报告题目：Electrochemical Energy Storage: from materials research to battery modelling

An overview of the research carried out in the Energy Materials andDevices group will be given, addressing: (i) Fundamentalmaterials research in the field of hydrogen and electricity storage; (ii) Introducing newenergy storage technologies, such as 3D-integrated all-solid-state batteries; (iii) Mathematicalmodeling, describing and experimentally verifying the macroscopic behavior ofthe electrochemical and physical processes of these materials/devices; (iv) Based on theinsight offered by these models designing new algorithms, such as safe fastcharging algorithms and advanced Battery ManagementSystems.
Peter H.L. Notten joinedPhilips Research in 1975 till 2010. While working at these laboratories on the electrochemistryof etching of III-V semiconductors he received his PhD from the EindhovenUniversity of Technology in 1989. Since then his activities have been focusingon the research of hydride-forming (electrode) materials for application inrechargeable NiMH batteries, switchable optical mirrors and gas phase storage,and Lithium-based rechargeable battery systems. Since 2000 he has beenappointed as professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology where he isheading the group Energy Materials and Devices. In 2014 he has been appointedas International Adjunct Faculty at Amrita University, Coimbatore, India and atthe Forschungszentrum J?lich (FZJ), Germany. In 2018 he has been appointed asHonorary Professor at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia.
